The Home Adaptations for Independence (HAFI) Program provides financial assistance in the form of a grant to help eligible low-income seniors and people with disabilities in British Columbia to continue living independently in the comfort of their home.
As your physical needs change, so too does the need to modify your home environment. Adapting a home improves accessibility and promotes safe and independent living. Even small home adaptations can make a big difference to those who wish to remain in their homes longer.
To be eligible, you must be a British Columbia resident with limited income and assets. You or someone in your household must have a permanent disability or loss of ability. The adaptations requested must support accessibility and promote continued safe and independent living. Eligible households include homeowners and joint applications from landlords and tenants.
As funding is limited, full and complete applications with all supporting documents are reviewed on a first-come-first-served basis.
Learn more about HAFI by calling 1-800-257-7756 and asking for an application to be mailed to you. You can also go online to https://www.bchousing.org/housing-assistance/HAFI/program-overview
